Therapeutic Laser for Reducing Pain

What is Therapeutic Laser?

Cold Laser Therapy, also referred to as Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or Therapeutic Laser, is an FDA-cleared medical treatment that provides a safe, non-invasive, non-addictive, drug-free, well-tested solution for reducing inflammation and acute or chronic pain (unlike pain medications that only mask symptoms).

How does it work?

Therapeutic lasers are set at a frequency consistent with the frequency of all cells in the body. The laser penetrates the skin and projects light photons deep into your cells stimulating the cell mitochondria (often described as the “powerhouse” of a cell) to produce Adenosine TriPhosphate (ATP). ATP is known as the source of energy for every cell in the body. An increase in ATP results in increased cellular regeneration and communication. In this way, therapeutic laser:

  • Heals damaged cells; LLLT helps sick or injured cells take in oxygen and nutrients at a level similar to that of a healthy cell, and it helps them release wastes and toxins.
  • “Up-regulates” the function of normal, healthy cells.

What are the benefits?

A series of 5-minute sessions can help reduce pain, inflammation and swelling, as well as accelerate the process of recovery and healing.

Cold Laser Therapy is FDA cleared for lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, and plantar fasciitis, but it can safely be used as a healing treatment for a number of different conditions.

The team at Stow Family Chiropractic has been raving about the benefits of Therapeutic Laser since we first introduced the treatment into our practice in fall of 2018. Now we have a long list of dedicated laser patients who also swear by the treatment, especially in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments!

Therapeutic Laser has helped our patients with…

Plantar fasciitis

“I developed plantar fasciitis and was in tremendous pain. 3 shots of cortisone by an orthopedic doctor did not alleviate the pain. I play tennis and the thought of not being able to get on the courts was very difficult. I’ve been a long time patient of Dr Todd’s for adjustments and I asked him if he thought the laser could help with my plantar fasciitis. After 14 sessions over 3 weeks, it was gone and I was pain free! Since it worked so well, I’ve had the Cold Laser Therapy alleviate the arthritic pain in my hands and knee. Currently I am using it for lower back pain and getting pain relief from it. I’m a big believer in this magical machine especially because it has allowed me to continue playing competitive tennis.” – Julie

Inflammation & pain

I’m happy with my laser treatments. After completing my first round of chiropractic services, I was offered therapeutic laser treatments. I have to say the trust developed with this office and the improvements I was beginning to experience encouraged me to give it a try. I have had much less pain and fewer muscle spasms since I began this five minute treatment twice per week. I notice and feel the improvements.  I feel it is a great alternative or supplement  to pain relievers which mask progress and mask the ability to feel the improvements in healing. I would recommend it, as it seems to increase and speed healing.” – Kate

“The therapeutic laser made all the difference for me with chiropractic adjustments. It was the missing piece to my healing. The laser is touch and pain free. I used to feel really sore post adjustments, but since following up treatments with the therapeutic laser, I’ve made so much more progress on my healing journey and experience much less pain post adjustments. Recommend this tool to particularly sensitive people.” – Anna

“I have much less soreness and tenderness after a laser treatment!” – Debbie

Headaches

“I have been using the laser after adjustments to help with my headaches. I noticed a significant improvement in both frequency and severity of the pain. Highly recommend it!” – Iris

Recovery from surgery

“The laser is a fabulous tool that helped me recover faster after shoulder surgery by reducing pain and inflammation (better than ice!) It’s also great, right after a chiropractic adjustment, on days when my neck or shoulders or back are especially painful. It’s so quick and easy, and it has been invaluable in periods of chronic pain to make things tolerable.” – Sara

Back pain

“I have recurrent back pain due to spinal stenosis. Adding the laser therapy to my treatment has been especially helpful when I am experiencing spasms.” – Jean

Neck pain

“For the last year, I have received laser treatment in conjunction with chiropractic care for my arthritic neck. The intense pain that I felt before treatment is now completely gone. I strongly believe in the benefits of laser treatment to reduce inflammation, and that its use along with chiropractic adjustments is a winning combination.” – Beth

After many years of severe neck pain which was radiating down my arm, Dr. Todd suggested I try cold laser therapy treatments combined with chiropractic adjustments. It took a few visits to relieve the pain, and within a few months I can honestly say I have no daily pain. I can finally sleep better and can easily move my neck, which I could not do before treatment. I also had some knee pain and was treated with laser and the pain was gone after one visit. I highly recommend laser treatments!!” – Michelle

Skin conditions

“Cold laser therapy has helped my skin condition tremendously. I had been suffering from Topical Steroid Withdrawal for 3.5 years and needed a treatment that would help speed the healing of my tissue and cells. It has helped decrease the amount of time I flare for, and I noticed open wounds healing within days after treatment.” – Sydney

Ankle pain and swelling

“I just want to say that the cold laser really works on keeping the swelling on my ankle down. Nothing else does that. It seems to help with my circulation in my whole leg. I had blood clots in that leg before.” – Brad
